Position Summary
The Holton-Arms School seeks a collaborative, flexible, and enthusiastic Upper School Biology and Biotechnology Teacher to join our robust Science & Computer Science Department for the 2026-27 school year. This is a full-time 10-month position.

The Upper School Science Teacher at Holton-Arms is a dynamic educator dedicated to cultivating a joy of discovery through the biological sciences. This role facilitates a rigorous, inclusive learning environment where students master fundamental concepts and apply them to complex, real-world challenges. Beyond the laboratory, the successful candidate serves as a vital mentor and advisor, working collaboratively to support the school’s mission.
Qualifications and Experience

A passion for Biology instruction and development of graduates who will be confident to enter university laboratories and lecture halls.

Significant experience in DNA-focused technologies, including gel electrophoresis, PCR, and bacterial transformation.

The ability to help students connect scientific claims to the evidence and reasoning behind them and to connect concepts to practical applications.

A commitment to fostering an equitable and just community where every student’s unique identity is valued.

A Bachelor’s degree and significant experience teaching school-age children, particularly at the Upper School level.

Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment for student-athletes and staff.

Proficiency in learning management systems and readiness to provide clear and timely course information for students to access digitally.

Salary & Benefits
The average salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000, the exact salary to be determined based on education and experience. We use a step scale to determine teacher salary. Additional stipends are available for coaching, certain club sponsorship and significant commitments outside of the classroom.
