Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Position Summary:

The Director of FP&A is responsible for leading the company’s financial planning, forecasting, and analytical processes. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong strategic, analytical, and collaborative capabilities.

The Director works closely with executive leadership and business unit heads to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making. This role will partner extensively with the Director of Management Reporting, relying on that function for accurate and timely financial data and standardized reporting. The FP&A Director translates those outputs into forward-looking insights, forecasts, and recommendations to support the company’s growth and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Forecasting

• Lead the coordination and development of the annual operating plan, long-range plan, and rolling forecasts.

• Build and maintain sophisticated financial models to support planning, scenario analysis, and strategic initiatives.

• Collaborate with the Director of Management Reporting and Accounting to ensure forecast assumptions align with historical performance and reporting standards.

• Partner with business leaders to validate forecasts, assess drivers, and ensure accountability for results.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Leverage data provided by Management Reporting to perform in-depth financial analysis, including variance, trend, and sensitivity analysis.

• Translate results into clear insights and recommendations for senior management and the Board.

• Develop and enhance dashboards and KPIs to track business performance and strategic goals.

• Identify emerging risks and opportunities and provide proactive guidance to leadership.

Strategic Business Partnership:

• Work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams to evaluate project economics, pricing, and investment returns.

• Support M&A evaluations, capital allocation decisions, and strategic growth initiatives through robust financial modeling.

• Collaborate with the Director of Management Reporting to ensure consistency between internal management analyses and external reporting narratives.

Collaboration & Influence:

• Partner effectively with Accounting, Treasury, and other finance functions to ensure alignment on assumptions, methodologies, and outputs.

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, influencing business decisions through data-driven insights.

• Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and analytical tools through partnership rather than direct authority.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure all planning and analytical activities align with GAAP, SOX, and internal control standards.

• Support external reporting and investor relations by providing forward-looking analysis and context for financial results.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA or CPA preferred.

• Experience:

- 7 years in finance with significant experience in FP&A or corporate finance roles.

- Experience in a publicly traded company is required, including knowledge of SEC reporting cycles and SOX compliance.

- Proven ability to operate effectively without direct reports while influencing and collaborating across all levels of the organization.

Skills:

- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.

- Strong command of ERP and planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Adaptive Insights, or similar).

- Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.

- Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership.

Competencies:

• Strategic thinker with high business acumen and analytical rigor.

• Exceptional collaborator who builds trust and alignment across teams.

• Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working independently in a fast-paced environment.
