POSITION: SAFETY TEAM – Multiple Openings
2022-23 School Year; 1.0 FTE
$15.25 - $16.50 depending on experience
Holt Public Schools is located in the Lansing metropolitan region. It is primarily located in Ingham County with portions in Eaton County. We provide educational programs from Early Childhood through and beyond 12th grade including access to Early College programming and Career and Technical Education. Our current enrollment totals approximately 5,250 students. Our student body is approximately 45% persons of color with significant ethnic diversity and representation from historically marginalized groups. WILL BE HIRED AND PAID BY THIRD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR ON BEHALF OF HOLT PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
Essential Job Functions:
- Effectively communicate with and mentor students to help improve school norms and expectations.
- Guide students to proper school supports/resources when behavioral intervention is needed.
- Participate in ongoing districtwide equity training to help create an inclusive and inviting school culture.
- Collaborate with building administration to problem-solve situations that may be an escalation of student behavior.
- Communicate with School Resource Officer (SRO) as directed when high-risk safety issues arise.
- Communicate with parent(s), guardian(s), and community stakeholders upon entry into the building.
- Maintain confidentiality when dealing with students, families, and community members.
- Conduct periodic inspections of the school to ensure building safety.
- Monitor hallways during passing time, lunch periods, and before/afterschool release.
- Provide support for other duties as assigned by building administrators.
- Document behavioral interventions when issues persist.
- Have a passion for working with adolescents and a willingness to provide positive redirection.
Education, Experience, Skills Required:
- Applicants must have a high school diploma.
- Exhibit positive rapport with students, parents, professional & support staff, and community members.
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills to develop collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, administrators, classroom teachers, support staff, and parent(s)/guardian(s).
- Ability to problem-solve and promote pro-social behaviors.
- Desire to work with a diverse student population committed to providing a positive experience for students and their families regardless of race, culture, creed, religion, handicapping condition, socioeconomic status, gender, sexuality, and sexual identity.
- View work through an equity lens guided through the districtwide Equity Oriented Strategic Plan (EOSP).
Desired Skills:
- Completion of college courses (child development, education, social work).
- Experience with Restorative Practices.
- Child/student mentorship program experience.
