This position is on-site at the San Antonio HQ office and you must reside in Texas. 

Job Summary:

Facilitates the planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of resource requirements for network systems. Performs network planning, network architecture design and engineering activities. Supervises the administration and maintenance of global network infrastructure, providing technical guidance and mentorship to peers. Manages network problem resolution and serves as the highest point of escalation for private and public network issues. Continuously evaluates new products and emerging technologies, providing strategic recommendations that drive proactive improvements and innovation while overseeing the development and implementation of best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience required; over 10 years preferred. 
  • 3 years of experience in designing, implementing and managing Azure network services or equivalent public cloud experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with suppliers conducting vendor evaluations, product proofs of concepts, pilots, and enterprise implementations preferred.

Preferred Certifications (one or more of the following): 

  • CCNP
  • CCNA
  • Fortinet NSE4
  • Azure Networking Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification
  • CCIE
  • CompTIA Network

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in designing and maintaining hybrid network architectures that securely and efficiently connect on-prem data centers with public cloud providers (e.g. Azure) and services.
  • Good understanding of Azure networking components including VNets, Azure FW, NSGs, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, Application Gateways, and hub-and-spoke architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of SD WAN, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Aruba, and CISCO hardware environment.
  • Expert-level configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of firewalls across on-prem and cloud platforms including Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Cisco.
  • Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), L2/L3 architecture, policy-based routing, and Quality of Service (QoS) in complex, multi-site environments.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible to automate network tasks and deployments.
  • Skilled in WAN/LAN/MAN connectivity technologies including MPLS, ELAN, DIA, and LTE for site connectivity and failover 
  • Experienced with network segmentation, Zero Trust Network Architecture, VPN/IPSec, NAT, 802.1X, and secure remote access solutions.
  • Proven knowledge of wireless design, configuration, and troubleshooting for large enterprises and campus environments using Aruba solutions.
  • Skilled in managing and implementing monitoring, alerting to proactively identify and address performance degradation, including tools like SolarWinds.
  • Ability to diagnose and determine corrective actions to be taken on complex technical issues.
  • Experience architecting and testing hybrid disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) strategies, including cross-platform failover between on-prem and cloud networks.
  • Proficient in planning redundancy for both physical and virtual network layers to ensure high availability and business resilience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading and mentoring junior staff, providing hands-on technical guidance to resolve complex infrastructure issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to manage support cases with external technology vendors.

  • Provide systems support including responding to monitoring alerts

  • Design and develop workflow and functional diagrams to demonstrate proposed solutions to clients and internal teams, including spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and contributes to the development of long-term strategic roadmaps aligned with business goals.
  • Leads the development and execution of project plans, including risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and contingency planning to ensure successful delivery and operational resilience.
  • Designs and implements monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions to support proactive, hands-off network operations.
  • Performs advanced network and system performance tuning and leads capacity planning to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Architects and maintains complex hybrid network solutions connecting on-premises data centers with Azure and other services, ensuring high availability and security.
  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency with static/dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and policy-based routing in complex, multi-site network environments; skilled in VLAN design, spanning-tree protocol optimization, and multicast routing configuration.
  • Applies expert understanding of core networking protocols including TCP/IP, MPLS, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and various VPN technologies in enterprise contexts.
  • Expertly configures, maintains, and optimizes enterprise-grade network infrastructure—including routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
  • Hands-on experience with VPCs, subnets, route tables, network ACLs, NAT gateways, and cloud-based load balancers and familiar with cloud-native firewalls, security groups, and Hub-and-Spoke architectures (Azure).
  • Develops automation scripts and templates using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible to streamline network operations and IaaC deployments via Terraform, Azure ARM, or similar.
  • Implements, supports and maintains WAN, LAN, Data Center, and related technologies.
  • Serves as the technical lead and escalation point.
  • Mentors Network Administrators and oversees complex project execution and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Creates and maintains detailed network diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and asset inventories.
  • Ensures documentation is current and meets audit/compliance requirements.
  • Works safely and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None, but responsible for the technical development and mentoring of peers.

    Travel: 

    • 15% - 25% travel, to include overnight stays, may include conferences.

    • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment. 
    • This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and conference room AV/video equipment.
    • This position requires frequent working at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
    • This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office machinery, file cabinets, etc.
