About the Museum
The Museum reaches 93,000 students annually from elementary, middle, high school and college through a variety of age-appropriate lessons and activities. We help teachers meet the State of Florida mandate to teach about the Holocaust through our lessons and teacher training. We also provide educational programs for adults at the Museum, on Zoom, and at other locations in the community.
Job Description
1. Assisting Director of Education and Community Outreach Manager with administrative tasks to ensure projects and programs are accomplished smoothly. This includes assisting with the scheduling of field trips, setting up the classroom for field trips and programs, and occasionally transporting and setting up the Pop-Up Museum at area schools, libraries, and communities.
2. Facilitating field trips by greeting school groups, providing introductions to the docents and guest speakers, time management, and giving museum tours when needed. Docent training will be provided during onboarding.
3. Supporting training of education volunteers, including classroom readers, field trip volunteers, docents, and guest speakers.
4. Assist GenShoah/2nd Generation speakers to develop scripts and PowerPoints about their family Holocaust stories, both for student audiences as well as adult.
5. Other duties may include assisting with content curation for teacher resources, such as viewing and editing Oral-Visual History tapes of Holocaust survivors, scanning images, digitizing books and other administrative tasks.
6. Other duties as assigned
This position reports to the Director of Education.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
Generally 26 hours per week, schedule varies based on school calendar.
Other duties as assigned. Weekend and/or evening work may be required.
Requirements
Strong interest in the mission of the Holocaust Museum is required
Interest and ability to work constructively with students from elementary to high school as well as senior citizens
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate with a team of staff and volunteers in a positive and energetic manner
Fluency in Microsoft Office applications, Zoom, Google Workspace and relevant technology
BA degree or equivalent work experience
Driver’s License and reliable transportation
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift 50lbs.
