Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Marine Painter to join our vessel maintenance and boatbuilding team. The ideal candidate takes pride in high-quality finishes, works well in both dry dock and construction environments, and follows strict safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare vessel surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, and fairing as needed.
- Mix and apply fairing compounds, primers, paints, and marine coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Follow paint schedules, technical specifications, and work instructions.
- Ensure coatings meet required thickness and coverage standards.
- Inspect finished work for quality and correct any imperfections.
- Operate and maintain painting tools and equipment.
- Assist with scaffolding, containment setup, or other prep work as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop area and ensure tools, parts, and supplies are in safe working condition.
- Comply with all safety procedures, including proper storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work 35-40 hours per week, with overtime approval from a supervisor or manager.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (truck preferred). Out-of-state licenses require a driver’s abstract upon hire.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings/blueprints, and procedure manuals.
- Proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Must have a reliable means of contact, such as a cell phone.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of marine painting techniques, materials, and tools.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Critical thinker and problem solver with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Trustworthy, responsible, and reliable.
- Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PDF; CAD experience a plus).
- Ability to work safely, follow procedures, and maintain a clean workspace.

Compensation: Range $25.00–$40.00/hr., based on experience
