Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Marine Painter to join our vessel maintenance and boatbuilding team. The ideal candidate takes pride in high-quality finishes, works well in both dry dock and construction environments, and follows strict safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare vessel surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, and fairing as needed.
  • Mix and apply fairing compounds, primers, paints, and marine coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
  • Follow paint schedules, technical specifications, and work instructions.
  • Ensure coatings meet required thickness and coverage standards.
  • Inspect finished work for quality and correct any imperfections.
  • Operate and maintain painting tools and equipment.
  • Assist with scaffolding, containment setup, or other prep work as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop area and ensure tools, parts, and supplies are in safe working condition.
  • Comply with all safety procedures, including proper storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work 35-40 hours per week, with overtime approval from a supervisor or manager.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (truck preferred). Out-of-state licenses require a driver’s abstract upon hire.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings/blueprints, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must have a reliable means of contact, such as a cell phone.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of marine painting techniques, materials, and tools.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Critical thinker and problem solver with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Trustworthy, responsible, and reliable.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PDF; CAD experience a plus).
  • Ability to work safely, follow procedures, and maintain a clean workspace.

Compensation: Range $25.00–$40.00/hr., based on experience
