VOLUME Cafe Attendant/Barista

Job Summary: The top priority of the Cafe Attendant/Barista is to tend to our Café guests. Second, they will also be circulating the café and assisting with guests requests, placing orders in POS, restocking inventory, and keeping the area clean. They play an integral role in ensuring our guests have an exceptional experience. The Cafe Attendant/Barista is passionate about food and service, and thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for our guests. Our Cafe Attendants/Baristas need to be experts in our food and beverage service, and they need to bring our menus to life with appealing descriptions including preparation, ingredients, and cooking methods.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

• Be an ambassador for VOLUME Café by meeting and exceeding VOLUME Café core objectives and values
• Provide excellent, friendly, courteous, and professional service to all internal and external guests, in every interaction
• Maintain and ensure the overall cleanliness and safety of work area/assigned station and the establishment
• Anticipates guests needs
• Perform all sequence of service duties in adherence to all VOLUME Café standards
• Respond to guests requests in an accurate and timely manner, creating a positive outcome that will result in a memorable experience
• Proper handling of VIPs, recognize repeat guests, and protect their privacy and confidentiality
• Perform accurate cash/credit handling and POS procedures in accordance with VOLUME Café policies and procedures
• Maintain knowledge about surroundings, i.e. nearby entertainment, theaters, etc.
• Assists with guest requests
• Water service and maintenance
• Restocking of the Café stations - refills ice wells, replenishes glasses and straw, restocks refreshments, restocks beers, etc.
• Preparation of all beverages, including coffee, tea, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic beverages
• Ensures all appropriate mise en place required to do their job and is fully set up for success 
• Keeps all bar and storage areas neat and organized 
• Empties trash and recycling 
• Fulfills any other needs as made evident by management team 
• Tracking opening and closing inventory levels 
• Helps in all Café opening and closing duties 
• Restock and maintain par levels of all beverages needed for service 
• Complete knowledge of food and beverage menu 
• Abides by all cash handling procedures set by VOLUME Café Management 
• Assists in orders and requisitions to maintain the proper stock of goods 
• Communicates daily with MOD for 86d items 
• Suggestively upsell the best wines for a guest experience

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 1 year previous barista experience required. 
• High-end hotel experience is a plus.
• California Food Handlers certified.
• RBS Certified.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Maintain a high level of personal appearance and hygiene at all times. 
• Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and late hours when necessary. 
• Must have the ability to report to work on time and when scheduled. 
• Must have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. 
• Ability to behave at all times based on a guest responsive culture where exceptional guest service prevails. 
• Be attentive, accountable, and highly organized and has the ability to plan multiple activities in a timely fashion. 
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
• Possess excellent phone skills and be guest service oriented and proactive. 
• Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor and composure at all times. 
• Ability to be friendly, engaging, gracious, and the ability to focus and connect with all guests and team members and exceed their expectations. 
• Have an upbeat, energetic, authentic, positive, and professional attitude at all times. 
• Know how to participate in a team environment and assist other departments when needed, providing lateral service.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
• May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
• Requires grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
