Hollywood Trucks is the industry’s leading provider of sustainable, cutting-edge production transportation solutions for film, television, and commercial projects. Our Los Angeles fleet includes state-of-the-art specialty trailers used on major studio productions. We are expanding our maintenance team and seeking a highly skilled Trailer Mechanic to help keep our equipment operating at the highest professional standard.
The Trailer Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on production trailers within Hollywood Trucks’ fleet. This includes everything from standard towable units to custom-built production support trailers. The ideal candidate has strong technical experience, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trailers, including:
- Braking systems (air and electric)
- Electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and connectors
- Suspension components, axles, hubs, bearings, and tires
- Hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Doors, lifts, ramps, stabilizers, and custom components
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- Identify parts and materials needed for repairs and coordinate with procurement.
- Ensure all equipment meets DOT, safety, and Hollywood Trucks standards.
- Respond to urgent repair needs and occasional on-location service calls to production sets.
- Work collaboratively with Fleet Ops, Drivers, and the LA Branch Manager to meet production timelines.
- 3 years of hands-on experience as a trailer mechanic or fleet technician.
- Strong knowledge of trailer electrical, brake, and suspension systems.
- Ability to diagnose issues accurately and perform quality repairs with minimal supervision.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Experience with liftgates, generators, or specialty production equipment is a strong advantage.
- Must own basic tools; specialty tools provided.
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus).
- Solar, battery, and inverter knowledge a strong advantage
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying outdoor conditions.
