A DAY IN THE LIFE
As our Cinema Technical Coordinator, you’ll be the face of the Center’s arthouse film theater – creating an inviting atmosphere where great stories come to life. You’ll assist with all aspects of cinema operations, from ingesting films, booking shows, updating showtimes and overseeing concession inventories to ensure operations run smoothly.
A typical day might include:
- Preparing and operating the Center’s cinema and AV equipment for film screenings, lectures, and events.
- Updating the showtime listings and digital preview monitors.
- Assist with running concessions, handling sales, and providing excellent customer service with a friendly smile.
- Coordinating with staff, filmmakers, clients and community partners to support special programs or private rentals.
- Ensuring cleanliness and readiness of the cinema area before and after events.
- Monitoring screenings to ensure films play properly and audiences enjoy a smooth experience.
- Assessing inventory, placing supply orders and restocking items.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3 years of technical film and event management experience in a cinema, museum, or cultural venue.
- Experience in film projection, A/V operation, or event production.
- Basic understanding how to ingest and test films, set sound levels, conversion to DCP, transfers from hard drives and Blu-ray formats.
- Ability to coordinate client agreements, technical and event needs for private screenings and film festivals.
- Familiarity with various audio/visual or projection equipment (training will be provided).
- Knowledge of distributor booking and updating schedule on cinema site.
- Excellent communication and hospitality skills – you enjoy engaging with the public.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Comfortable handling cash or point-of-sale systems.
- Flexible to work evenings and weekends, screenings and events occur outside standard hours.
- A calm, collected presence when troubleshooting technical or guest issues.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with GDC and NEC software
- Familiarity with concessions management or small-scale food service.
- Interest in film, art, or cultural programming.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
This is a part-time position approximately 20-25 hours per week, with a schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
