Job Overview
Classroom Assistant needed for private special education school for students with physical/multiple disabilities who are medically fragile. The hours are 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The position can be physically demanding. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and have a willingness to learn and use new technology.
Duties
- Assist the teacher with preparation of materials and carrying out lessons.
- Provide assistance to students who need additional help.
- Assist the students in the bathroom, i.e. diapering, toilet training, and changing. This requires a significant amount of lifting every day (2-3 times per day).
- Assist with leisure activities and carry out therapy recommendations.
- Assist with mealtime.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other staff to promote a cohesive educational experience.
Criminal history and background check required.
