POSITION SUMMARY
The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Public Works Technician III/IV-Concrete to serve in the Public Works department. This position is responsible for performing work in the installation, construction, repair and maintenance of concrete and masonry projects for the Town of Holly Springs.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Public Works Supervisor - Concrete and regularly receives instruction from the Crew Leader. Work is checked for accuracy, quality and adherence to instructions. Employees may need to choose from defined alternatives to resolve problems but consult with Crew Leader or Supervisor on matters not covered by guidelines. Incumbents have no supervisory responsibilities.
The work schedule is business hours with occasional evenings and weekends. The starting annual salary range is $48,626.72-$51,521.71 (Grades E/F) depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Safely operates heavy and light construction equipment, vehicles, machinery, and tools for construction related operations.
2. Properly set up and remove worksite safety controls.
3. Operate concrete shaver on pavement to eliminate uneven surfaces.
4. Demolishes and removes existing concrete for disposal.
5. Sets forms and proper grade/base.
6. Repairs and installs new ADA ramps sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and concrete pads.
7. Assists mixing, pouring, troweling, and finishing concrete, as well as cleans jobsite and pressure washes residuals off concrete/roadways.
8. Cleans equipment and tools after projects. Inspects and maintains assigned equipment; maintains equipment in clean and operating manner.
9. Removes forms, backfills soils, installs root guards, and landscaping
10. Interacts with residents that will be impacted as a result of concrete work in advance of and during the project.
11. Performs preventative maintenance checks on equipment and vehicles.
12. Responds to essential field personnel in emergency and inclement weather situations.
13. Reports to work for after-hours needed as assigned.
Public Works Technician IV – Concrete Finisher Additional Duties
15. Performs more complicated finishing work Complete specialty concrete/masonry projects.
16. Sets transit elevations.
17. Completes ADA compliant repairs.
18. Requires limited oversight, guidance and supervision as related to concrete installation and
finishing.
19. Assigns next steps based on the stage of each project in the absence of the Crew Lead or
Supervisor
• Working knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
• Working knowledge of municipal maintenance and construction practices.
• Working knowledge of environmental and regulatory requirements related to the work.
• Working knowledge of the traffic laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to use of tools and motorized equipment.
• Knowledge of the operation, care, and repair of maintenance equipment and tools.
• Working knowledge of occupational hazards(OSHA)and safe work practices including Safety Data Sheets.
• Working knowledge of ADA requirements for concrete and related construction projects.
• Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out local policies and procedures, written instructions, general correspondence, and Federal, State, and local regulations.
• Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• One (1) -Two (2) year’s work experience in concrete installation or similar construction trade.
• Must have and keep a current valid Class A or B CDL Driver’s license.
TECH IV
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) or more year’s work experience in concrete installation or similar construction trade.
• Three (3) or more years’ experience in finishing concrete or working with ADA/sidewalk projects
• Must have and keep a current valid Class A or B CDL Driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Skilled in concrete finishing.
