Maintenance Mechanic I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in the maintenance, repair, and monitoring of mechanical and electrical equipment within Holly Poultry’s processing facility. This role is essential to keeping production running smoothly and safely while learning and developing technical skills under the guidance of experienced mechanics.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic preventive maintenance (PM) on production and facility equipment.
- Assist senior mechanics with repairs of conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
- Complete daily equipment checklists and log minor maintenance activities.
- Monitor machine performance and notify senior personnel of irregularities.
- Clean and lubricate machine parts regularly to ensure smooth operation.
- Maintain tools and a clean, organized workspace.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA safety standards.
- Learn proper use of multimeters, hand tools, and power tools.
- Respond to basic maintenance requests from production departments.
- Participate in on-the-job training and technical coursework as required.
- Able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
- Set up of all equipment at Holly or State Street whichever building they work in.
- Basic Tig welding (flat welds)
- Basic plumbing (replacing hoses, tubes, foot pedals, and knee switches)
- Basic electrical troubleshooting (cord drops, changing motors, E-stops, etc.)
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting. (Changing bearing, shafts, etc.)
- Schematic/Technical manuals. (need an understanding of it).
- Basic jack repair. (wheels, batteries)
- Take test for “Level 2” and pass.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Willingness to work in a cold, fast-paced, and industrial food environment.
- Able to lift 50lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Candidates must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug test, and background screen.
Preferred:
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or food processing setting.
- Basic knowledge of equipment such as motors, conveyors, or pumps.
- OSHA 10 Certification (or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire).
