Equipment Maintenance Technical Specialist

Hollowick, a division of Steelite International, is seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Technical Specialist to join our Engineering team in Manlius, NY. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment to maximize uptime, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, experience working in an automated manufacturing environment, and the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues quickly and effectively.

Hours: 7-3:30 M-F

What You'll Do

• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, and upgrades on production equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC-related equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate equipment downtime and maintenance schedules with Production.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and equipment documentation.
• Partner with Engineering and Production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Support new product introductions, process development, and equipment runoff activities.
• Assist with product testing, data analysis, and implementation of approved design improvements.
• Develop work instructions, process documentation, and operator training materials.
• Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Participate in engineering project meetings and provide status updates on assigned projects.
• Serve as backup support for Tool Room operations when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while supporting 5S initiatives.

QualificationsRequired

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5–7 years of experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
• PLC training and demonstrated PLC troubleshooting experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

• Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with production equipment installations, modifications, and process development.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, pallet jacks, and related equipment.

Competitive salary range of $70K per year
