Hollow Contracting – Aggregate Division
Hollow Contracting is seeking an experienced Crusher Foreman / Crushing Supervisor to lead daily operations of our aggregate crushing spreads. This is a working foreman position responsible for supervising the crew while actively participating in setup, teardown, maintenance, and production of aggregate materials meeting MDT/MPW and custom specifications.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, deep crushing plant knowledge, and the ability to keep production running efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Most work is located in Southwest Montana, with projects typically around the Butte and surrounding areas.
Key ResponsibilitiesCrushing Operations
- Lead and supervise the daily operation of crushing spreads
- Ensure production meets MDT and project specification requirements
- Monitor gradation, material quality, and production rates
- Coordinate crushing activities with pit operations, trucking, and project managers
- Adjust crushing plant settings to maintain spec compliance
Plant Setup & Teardown
- Lead mobilization and demobilization of crushing spreads
- Manage plant setup, tear-down, and relocation
- Ensure conveyors, screens, crushers, and wash plants are installed correctly and safely
- Coordinate trucking and heavy equipment required for moves
Equipment Operation & Knowledge
Experience with equipment such as:
- Jaw crushers
- Cone crushers
- Impact crushers
- Wash plants
- Screening plants
- Stackers and conveyors
- Feed hoppers and scalping screens
- Radial stackers
- Water systems and pumps
Maintenance & Mechanical
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in the crushing spread
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Change liners, screens, belts, bearings, and rollers
- Manage lubrication schedules
- Coordinate larger repairs with mechanics when needed
A service truck will be provided to support field repairs and maintenance.
Crew Leadership
- Supervise and train crusher operators, loader operators, and ground crew
- Maintain daily production reports
- Communicate with project managers and company leadership
- Ensure proper safety procedures are followed
- Coordinate daily work assignments
Production & Quality Control
- Monitor production rates and efficiency
- Maintain material stockpiles and manage blending
- Ensure compliance with MDT gradation specifications
- Work with scale house and management to track tonnage
Safety Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety meetings/tailgate meetings
- Enforce MSHA and company safety policies
- Ensure equipment inspections are completed
- Maintain safe work zones around crushers and conveyors
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years crushing experience
- Previous crusher foreman or lead operator experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of aggregate production and crushing spreads
- Ability to meet MDT and project material specifications
- Experience with crushing plant setups and tear-downs
- Mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair plant equipment
- Ability to supervise crews and manage production
Preferred experience includes:
- MSHA training
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Equipment operation (loaders, excavators, dozers)
- Knowledge of aggregate gradations and quality control
