Holliston Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join the team at the Fred Miller Elementary School (Grades 3-5) starting in the 2026–2027 school year.


Salary:
$41,689 – $79,874 (Prorated at 0.75 FTE; equivalent to $55,586–$106,498 at 1.0 FTE).


Compensation Note:
Salary is determined by experience and placement on the current district salary schedule. Rates reflect the active schedule and are pending finalized contract negotiations for the 2026–2027 school year. Any negotiated rate increases will apply upon contract ratification.

Preferred Candidates should possess:

  • School nurse educator's license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Bachelor's in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Massachusetts (M.G.L. c.7l, s.53).
  • Current CPR certification/AED training from a recognized provider (such as the American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
  • A strong knowledge and demonstrated skill in working with students in a school setting (grades 3-5).
  • A desire to be part of a collaborative school community.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • A love of working with elementary school age students.
  • Assessment and evaluation of students' health status.
  • Serve as health advocate and provide primary and emergency health care to students, staff and visitors.
  • Provide appropriate staff with student medical information and guidance related to student health issues as needed.
  • Provide consultation, relevant teaching, counseling and guidance to assist students and their parents in assuming responsibility for health care.
  • Provide relevant health information for team meetings, core evaluations, and other meetings as needed.
  • Serve as a resource person in school health education programs for students, school personnel and parents.
  • Administer medication in accordance with state and school policies.
  • Conduct mandated screening of students for vision, hearing and postural assessment as per state protocol including follow-up retests, appropriate referrals, and notification of parents.
  • Conduct mandated screenings of students as per SBIRT protocols.
  • Record and maintain student medical information with respect to eligibility for participation in school-based activities.
  • Assist school administrators in the reporting of all required medical information to appropriate state personnel.
  • Participate in the modification of the school program to meet the needs of children with disabilities and medical conditions that require modifications in school
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee individual healthcare plans, emergency healthcare plans
  • Act as an advocate and consultant for children suspected of being abused or neglected
  • Maintain continuing education requirements for recertification by DESE
  • Utilize SNAP software to document and maintain accurate health records for students
  • Maintain health office statistics as required for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health

  • Salary for the 2026-27 school year is currently to be determined pending contract negotiations.


Public School employees of Massachusetts are required to submit their fingerprints to a National Criminal Database check. The check will require you to pay a fee of $55 if you hold an Educator’s License, or $35 if you are an unlicensed employee. In addition to the national background check, a satisfactory Massachusetts Criminal Record Check (CORI) is required.
