Job Summary:
The Director of Sales and Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the branch, including leading and managing the Operations Manager and Field Services Manager to ensure safe, efficient, and quality delivery of traffic control / asphalt & concrete repair services while strengthening client relationships, managing budgets, and guiding branch growth through targeted business development strategies, including identifying new customer opportunities, expanding key accounts, and supporting long-term revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relations & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong local client relationships to drive repeat business and regional growth.
- Seek and attend networking events to grow the branch’s customer base and maintain strong industry relationships and presence within the community.
- Lead branch marketing and promotional initiatives to enhance brand visibility and attract new clients.
- Serve as a point of contact for key clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- As needed, assist Operations Manager in developing bids, proposals, and pricing strategies for new and ongoing work.
- Prepare, formalize, and submit competitive bids and proposals in alignment with company standards and profitability goals.
- Negotiate pricing and terms while maintaining a strong understanding of market trends and competitive dynamics.
- Manage and negotiate local sourcing and vendor partnerships to optimize cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
Finances & Budgeting
- Own branch-level P&L and business planning ; monitor branch budgets, expenses, and profitability.
- Approve timesheets, job costing, and invoicing in coordination with Operations Manager and Traffic Control Supervisor.
- Oversee certified payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.
- Monitor project profitability against estimates, implementing actions to ensure margin targets are met.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs without compromising safety or service.
Operations & Leadership
- Provide oversight and guidance to the Operations Manager and Field Services Manager to ensure crews are deployed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations.
- Work with Operations Manager on scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to meet project requirements.
- Manage subcontractor relationships to support project delivery, quality, and budget objectives.
- Foster a safety-first culture to protect the public and our employees, ensuring all standards, policies, and procedures are always followed.
- Conduct regular branch meetings to review performance and upcoming work.
- Lead branch safety initiatives, including regular meetings to audit, review issues and solutions, train, and conduct compliance monitoring.
- Conduct on-site visits and project assessments to ensure quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Foster a positive work environment built on respect, clear communication, and teamwork.
- Support HR functions and employee support at the branch level including training, development, and performance management.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all employees adhere to company, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of projects, incidents, and employee performance.
- Report branch performance, challenges, and opportunities to the Owner/President.
- Stay informed on local regulations and requirements to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of management experience, preferably in construction, utilities, or traffic control.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, safety regulations, and construction industry practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business development and sales skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide staff while maintaining professionalism and a supportive, positive teamwork-oriented environment.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and competing priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Business, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 Certification
• ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Certification
• Commercial Driver’s License
Salary : $100,000 - $150,000
