Description:
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides prehospital emergency medical care and transportation for patients in accordance with PA State protocols, medical direction, and organizational policies. EMTs respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, assess patients, administer basic life support (BLS), and ensure safe transport while maintaining a high standard of patient care and professionalism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency medical calls.
- Assess patients' medical conditions and determine appropriate treatment within the EMT scope of practice.
- Provide Basic Life Support (BLS), including CPR, bleeding control, airway management, oxygen administration, splinting, and AED use.
- Safely operate and maintain ambulances and emergency vehicles.
- Transport patients to medical facilities while monitoring their condition and providing ongoing care.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, medical control, hospital staff, law enforcement, and fire personnel.
- Complete accurate and timely patient care reports and other required documentation.
- Inspect, clean, restock, and maintain ambulances, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Follow infection control procedures and OSHA standards.
- Participate in continuing education, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Represent the organization professionally when interacting with patients, families, and the public.
Required Qualifications
- Current PA EMT-Basic certification
- Current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers (BLS).
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and physical examination.
- Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) certification
- Ability to complete electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) systems within 24-72 hours
Schedule
- 6, 12, or 24-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Full-timers can elect for a 7-day on, 7-day off rotation.

Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry patients and equipment weighing up to 125 pounds with assistance.
- Frequently bend, kneel, climb, reach, and stand for extended periods.
- Work in adverse weather and hazardous environments.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Pay: From $17.90 per hour
