Water Field Operations Tech - Line Locator

Description

Holley-Navarre Water System is an 18,000 strong member owned not-for-profit water and wastewater company in Santa Rosa County. HNWS wholly owns two subsidiaries, an engineering firm, and a golf course.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Install sanitary sewer/ water pipe and all appurtenances.
• Maintain accurate records to properly record use of supplies, tools, parts, equipment and materials in accordance with HNWS Inventory Control.
• Assist with work orders and customer service orders as directed.
• Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisor.
• Cut pipes to required lengths.
• Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction.
• Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints.
• Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
• Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
• Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
• Intimate and working knowledge of industry standard hand signals.
• Digs holes and ditches with shovel and other hand tools.
• Train others in pipe-laying techniques.

· Assist with traffic control and maintenance when required.

· Responsible for keeping work area clean and neat.

· Other duties as required.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to earn and maintain Water Distribution License or Class C Water Operations License.

CDL preferred

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, or sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
