Land Use Planner

Holland & Knight’s Tysons office is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Land Use Planner to join our multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities

• Support land use and zoning efforts for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
• Analyze comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and entitlement pathways to guide strategic development.
• Draft and review entitlement application materials, including Statements of Justification and zoning analyses.
• Engage with local governments, boards, and commissions to secure approvals.
• Conduct community outreach and build consensus among stakeholders.
• Provide innovative planning solutions that balance economic development, sustainability, and community needs.
• Collaborate with legal teams to integrate planning insights into legislative applications and real estate transactions.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in land use planning, preferably in Northern Virginia.
• Strong understanding of zoning, comprehensive planning, and entitlement processes.
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically in solving land use challenges.
• Excellent writing, research, and presentation skills.
• Experience in both public and private sector planning is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Real Estate Development, or related field (Master’s preferred but not required).
• Membership in APA or AICP is preferred, but not mandatory.
