Seeking a Diesel Technician Apprentice with strong mechanical aptitude, a proactive learning mindset, and the ability to tackle hands‑on challenges in a dynamic maintenance environment.
Here’s a summary of what our team in Ketchikan Transportation Operations is looking for in its Apprentice. Is this you?
Responsibilities
- Routinely performs repairs and preventative maintenance tasks on our fleet of motorcoaches, bag trucks and light duty vehicles under the supervision of a journeyman Technician.
- 144 hours of LMS MCI Training and other online learning opportunities to be completed every year from year 1 to 4.
- Complete 2000 hours annually of on-the-job learning.
- Document all OJT hours daily on provided timecard to meet the federal requirements for record keeping.
- Obtain 608/609 HVAC certification at minimum 609 MVAC and CDL.
- Facility Maintenance – clean, repair and maintain facility, grounds, work areas, company tools and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license Commercial Driver’s License or Ability to Obtain Class B w/ Air Brake Restriction Removed & Passenger Endorsement.
- Willingness to learn the trade.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America Line/Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnosis & repairs vehicles based on company guidelines.
- Understanding of workplace policies and procedures
- Familiarity with team collaboration tools and techniques.
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Ability to maintain reliable and consistent attendance
- Capacity to be punctual
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and work as part of a team
- Demonstrated professionalism in all interactions and tasks.
