What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychotherapist position at Holistic Healing Counseling and Wellness, PLLC?
Overview
We are looking for a warm, grounded, and clinically skilled psychotherapist who values curiosity, true presence, and collaborative growth. This clinician will join our practice in providing thoughtful, evidence-informed therapy to a diverse group of clients, including adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, identity development, relationship challenges, life transitions, and chronic stress.
The ideal candidate approaches therapy with compassion, flexibility, and cultural humility. We’re looking for someone who understands how to hold space for clients’ complex inner experiences, who is comfortable working with nervous-system-based interventions, and who can integrate structure with creativity in treatment planning. A strong preference is given to clinicians who value trauma-informed work, emotional attunement, and empowering clients rather than pathologizing them.
This role includes conducting assessments, developing collaborative treatment plans, and providing individual therapy in a supportive outpatient environment (in-person, virtual, or hybrid).
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments that center the client’s story, values, context, and strengths.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that are flexible and responsive, integrating evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based interventions, trauma-informed therapies, or expressive therapies.
- Provide individual counseling for concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relational distress, identity exploration, chronic pain, and emotional regulation.
- Maintain a therapeutic presence grounded in compassion, emotional attunement, and respect for clients’ autonomy.
- Use crisis-response strategies when needed while maintaining a calm, supportive stance.
- Collaborate with other providers when appropriate and communicate clearly to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in accordance with ethical and legal standards (HIPAA compliant).
- Engage in ongoing professional development, self-reflection, and continued learning.
- Participate in team consultation, case collaboration, and a culture of mutual support.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Deliver services via telehealth platforms when appropriate and ensure compliance with all relevant medical terminology standards.
- Stay current with ICD coding updates and best practices in behavioral health treatment.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field.
- Independent licensure in North Carolina (e.g., LCMHC, LCSW, LMFT) or associate licensure with appropriate supervision.
- Strong grounding in at least one evidence-based modality with willingness to integrate others (CBT, ACT, trauma-focused approaches, mindfulness, somatic work, etc.).
- Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practice.
- Ability to attune to clients with warmth, clarity, and a non-pathologizing stance.
- Experience with telehealth or willingness to learn and adapt effectively to virtual care.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships.
- A collaborative spirit, openness to feedback, dedication to ethical practice, and genuine care for clients’ wellbeing.
- Familiarity with crisis management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Telehealth experience is preferred; ability to adapt therapeutic approaches for virtual delivery is essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health and mental health counseling practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from various backgrounds.
- Commitment to ethical standards including HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of medical records.
