Job Purpose
Responsible for delivering growth, evaluating selection decisions, handling brand relationships, improving customer experience and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees merchandising and sales strategies for assigned categories.
- Coordinates with vendors and other departments to identify market and sales trends to address customer and client needs.
- Analyzes data and/or insights to determine industry and consumer trends.
- Devises long term development strategies for across product categories.
- Develops exit strategies for unsuccessful or obsolete products.
- Fosters trust with vendors and internal teams to achieve best pricing and quality of services
- Orders effectively to ensure product availability meets consumer demands.
- Determines positioning of product categories to maximize visibility.
- Collaborates with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities across relevant categories.
- Collaborates with category managers to expand product categories.
- Forecasts for product demand to ensure sustainability of inventory.
- Responsible for budget development and revenue for assigned category/categories.
Skills and Education Requirements
- Proven experience as category manager or experience in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of category management, marketing, and sales principles.
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods/tools.
- Proficient in MS Office with emphasis in spreadsheets.
- Must have strategic and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- BS/BA in business administration, marketing, or related field.
- Competent using Tecsys Software.
- Experience with product fulfilment.
- Ability to understand and focus on customer needs in a retail environment.
