What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel PM Houseman (Sunday & Mondays) position at Holiday Inn Gas South Arena?
Overview
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and guest-focused Part-Time PM Hotel Houseman to support our hotel operations on Sunday and Monday evenings only (3pm-11pm).
The Hotel Houseman plays an important role in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of the hotel’s public areas while supporting the Housekeeping and Front Desk teams with guest requests and operational needs.
This position is ideal for someone seeking consistent part-time evening work who takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming hotel environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel lobby, hallways, elevators, stairwells, entrances, and other public areas throughout the shift.
- Cleaning and regularly inspecting public restrooms.
- Emptying trash receptacles throughout the hotel and replacing liners as needed.
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot-cleaning floors and carpets.
- Cleaning glass doors, windows, mirrors, and other high-touch surfaces.
- Maintaining cleanliness around hotel entrances and designated exterior areas.
- Assisting with cleaning and maintaining meeting rooms and event spaces when needed.
- Setting up, breaking down, or resetting meeting spaces as assigned.
- Responding promptly to guest requests for towels, linens, blankets, pillows, toiletries, and other approved guest supplies.
- Delivering requested items to guestrooms in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assisting the Housekeeping Department with linen, trash, supplies, and other operational needs.
- Removing trash and soiled linen from designated areas and transporting them to the appropriate location.
- Restocking housekeeping closets and supplies when assigned.
- Completing assigned projects of the day and other deep-cleaning assignments.
- Checking assigned areas multiple times throughout the shift rather than considering an area complete after one cleaning.
- Reporting maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged items, or unusual conditions immediately to the manager or Front Desk.
- Following all hotel safety, security, cleanliness, and guest-service procedures.
- Completing the required Houseman checklist before the end of each shift.
- Assisting other departments with reasonable operational needs when requested by management.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Guest Service Expectations
The Houseman frequently works in guest-facing areas and is expected to provide professional and courteous service at all times.
The associate must:
- Greet and acknowledge guests when encountered.
- Respond professionally when a guest asks for assistance.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Avoid disruptive conversations, excessive cell phone use, or other unprofessional behavior in guest areas.
- Immediately communicate guest concerns or complaints to the Front Desk or Manager on Duty.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull as necessary.
- Push housekeeping carts, trash containers, linen carts, and other hotel equipment.
- Lift and carry supplies, linens, trash, and other items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Work throughout multiple floors and areas of the hotel.
- Safely use hotel-approved cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Be dependable and punctual.
- Be available to work every Sunday and Monday during the scheduled PM shift.
- Have strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Be able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Have a positive, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
- Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Communicate effectively with hotel leadership and team members.
- Previous hotel, housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial experience is preferred but not required.
Attendance & Schedule Expectations
This position is specifically being hired to provide coverage on Sundays and Mondays. Reliable attendance on these days is an essential requirement of the position.
The associate is expected to arrive on time, in proper uniform, and prepared to begin working at the scheduled start time. All attendance, call-out, timekeeping, and scheduling policies must be followed.
Performance Expectations
Success in this position means that hotel public areas remain consistently clean and presentable, guest requests are handled promptly, assigned projects are completed, and concerns are communicated to management.
Because many Houseman responsibilities must be performed multiple times throughout the shift, completion of a task earlier in the evening does not eliminate the responsibility to recheck and maintain that area.
All assigned duties and the daily Houseman checklist are expected to be completed before leaving at the end of the shift.
