Hotel Maintenance Technician

Location: Holiday Inn Express – Shelbyville, KY

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, self-motivated Hotel Maintenance Technician to independently oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our hotel. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the property remains safe, functional, and welcoming for our guests and team members. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with experience in a variety of maintenance trades and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

This role requires someone who takes pride in preventative maintenance, responds quickly to repair needs, and is available to assist during emergencies when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of the hotel to identify and address maintenance needs.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and general building systems.
• Complete guest room repairs, including doors, locks, lighting, fixtures, drywall, painting, flooring, and furniture.
• Maintain common areas, hallways, lobby, exterior grounds, parking areas, and landscaping as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and costly repairs.
• Repair or replace damaged fixtures, appliances, and equipment throughout the property.
• Ensure all hotel equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required.
• Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and inventory of tools and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, hotel standards, and local building codes.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff.
• Assist with seasonal property maintenance, including weather-related preparations.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel, commercial, apartment, or general maintenance experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs independently.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, kneel, and work in confined spaces as needed.
• Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Schedule Requirements

• Primary schedule consists of morning shifts.
• Must be available to work occasional weekends as business needs require.
• Must be willing to respond to after-hours or emergency maintenance situations when necessary.
