What is Holiday Home Camp?
Holiday Home Camp (HHC) provides free summer camp to youth from underserved communities! Based on Geneva Lake in Williams Bay, WI, HHC have remained true to their mission since 1887 and are the oldest ACA accredited camp still operating in its original location! In 2022, HHC was the recipient of ACA's Program Excellence Award!
During the summer, HHC serve over 700 kids aged 7-14 years with an additional week for their teenage leadership program - The ELITE Program. Campers participate in a range of traditional camp activities that includes archery, arts & crafts, recreational sports, dance, drama, swimming, tubing, outdoor education and so much more!
Our goal: to provide campers with new life skills and experiences that will help them be a positive influence within their families, schools and communities.
Work Schedule & Training
Running from May 28 to August 7, the schedule allows for a work and play balance during the summer season. Campers attend a session for 6 days before departing, allowing for a 2 or 3 day break for staff before the following session. There are 7 sessions in total, but before they begin, staff participate in a 2-week staff training period running from May 28 to June 7.
Staff will have the opportunity to gain two certifications at no additional cost should they not hold them already:
1. First Aid, CPR & AED
2. CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
Accommodation, Meals & Pay
Staff are required to live on-site during session, but have the flexibility to live elsewhere should they wish to on days off. Counselors stay in our modern cabins that each have separate rooms for counselors and campers along with a bathroom that includes two sinks, two showers and two stalls. There is access to Wi-Fi in multiple locations on camp.
All meals are provided during session and leftovers are accessible during days off.
On top of provided meals and accommodation throughout the summer, staff are paid a summer salary and receive payment every other Friday. Salaries range from $2,600 to $3,200 dependent on role and experience.
Experience & Skills
HHC do not require any specific experience or skills for roles that are not specialized (like Archery Instructor, Health Care Coordinator or Lifeguard), although experience working with youth is beneficial. What is required is an attitude of a team player that is willing to go the extra-mile to support the youth we serve!
