Summary:

 The Sales Associate is responsible for generating sales of destination, enhancement, lifestyle, and spearfishing products by providing superior customer service and customer education, while participating in all activities related to the ongoing operation and maintenance of a retail environment. 

Duties/Essential Functions:

• Generate sales across all product categories, including scuba, snorkeling, spearfishing, and related lifestyle gear
• Maintain updated product knowledge and respond to customer inquiries regarding diving, snorkeling, and spearfishing equipment and techniques
• Stock and replenish merchandise
• Coordinate product exchanges and transfers
• Stamp, mark, or tag prices on merchandise
• Arrange displays to promote sales, including seasonal and spearfishing-focused displays
• Complete sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining the orderly appearance of the store
• Fill tanks and conduct inspections following company-sponsored VIP training
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and practices 
• Other tasks as assigned by the General Manager or designee

Requirements

 Qualifications:

• Previous customer service experience; six (6) months of sales or related experience preferred 
• Certified Scuba Diver or Dive Instructor highly desirable 
• Spearfishing experience or knowledge is strongly preferred
• If not currently scuba certified, must complete at least the academic requirements of a scuba course within the first 90 days of employment
• A combination of education, certifications, and work experience may be qualifying
• Overall understanding of personal computer operations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills; must be willing and able to work in a collaborative setting with a diverse group of internal and external customers and vendors 
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule as dictated by retail needs

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires employee to work on their feet 100% of the time 
• Ability to bend and squat 
• Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds on a regular basis
• Ability to climb ladders 
• Ability to access all areas of the store
• Ability to read, write, count, and perform basic arithmetic
