General Summary
Responsible for performing maintenance and repair work on marine equipment (boat, motor, trailer, accessories). Engines serviced include outboards and trolling motors. Qualified candidate will have an understanding of the mechanical systems, fuel systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic tooling.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform seasonal (winterizing) and preventative maintenance (oil changes, tune ups, water pumps, etc)
- Evaluate and repair all components of marine units (boat, motor, trailer, accessories)
- Installation and testing of accessories on customer units
- Maintain updated knowledge of product and industry trends and methods
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Maintain care and cleanliness on all customer property
- Maintain care and cleanliness of all marina equipment and tools
- Maintain accurate records both paper and electronic, related to repair orders including hours worked, and parts used on repair
- Assist other areas of marina as needed (hauling boats, moving boats throughout marina property, look up of technical parts)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Able to utilize and comprehend technical service manuals
- Physical ability to maneuver in, on and around units being serviced
- Physical ability to maneuver in, on and around marina equipment
- Able to safely operate stationary and portable power tools
- Able to safely operate customer property for repair and on open water when testing is required
- Able to use computer equipment for diagnostic evaluation, part lookup, and internal marine software system
Education & Experience
- Prior and proven experience working on outboard engines in a marine shop, not in your backyard. Atleast 3-5 years experience required.
- Basic computer skills and legible handwriting
- Desired but not required Technical training on any of the following engine brands: Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, Honda, Evinrude, Minnkota, PowerPole
Holden Beach Marina is home to over 200 full time storage customers as well as short term transient customers. We have a large rental fleet of tritoons, skiffs, and jet skis and we are home to a Carefree Boat Club location as well!
