What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plastic Injection Molding Maintenance Technician position at Holbrook Tool and Molding Inc?
Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for the everyday operations in injection molding. Employee is expected to produce quality parts that meet customer requirements; work in a manner that is safe for the employee as well as co-workers; and work in an efficient manner to meet customer delivery expectations.
Nature and Scope:
Position Reports to: Maintenance and Molding Supervisor
The employee in this position shall demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Quality Policy of the division in order to produce quality products consistent with what the customer has agreed to buy within the current provisions of TS 16949 and AS9100 of which Allegheny Performance Plastics Inc. is certified.
In successfully performing the duties of the position, the employee is responsible for supporting and completing the operations necessary to produce a quality product in a safe, timely and efficient manner. The operation will include the set up, maintenance and running of various injection molding presses within the work cell. The operation will also include performance of routine IPI inspections. The employee will insure that quality inspections are conducted and all required documentation is completed. The employee must demonstrate the ability to distinguish good parts from bad parts through training, reference to the drawing, and all other customer supplied information pertaining to the part.
Should a problem arise while producing the product, the employee should interact with the first responder, DSQR inspection, other qualified team members or business unit manager to troubleshoot and resolve the problems.
The employee is required to maintain a clean and safe work environment. He/she should also be engaged in related processes so he/she is able to make any technical or quality improvement recommendations as well cost reduction ideas.
The employee must show a willingness to work with others, including communication, flexibility, cooperation and the ability to work together within a team to complete a common goal.
Core Competencies:
1) Ability to read a drawing
2) Ability to use common measuring gages (I.E. Calipers, Height Gage, etc…)
3) Ability to perform routine IPI Inspections
4) Ability to read and understand Allegheny job packets (routers)
5) Ability to locate and follow work instructions for any particular job
6) Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment in work cell
7) Ability to use small hand tools
8) Ability to use power equipment within the work cell
9) Understanding the fundamental operation of all molding machines and auxiliary equipment (grinders, mold temperature controllers, conveyors, etc). Technicians are expected to properly maintain equipment, including screws, barrels, etc.
10) Understanding the fundamental functionality of molds and how they should be cared for both in and out of press.
11) Inspecting parts to ensure customer defined dimensions are met, and cosmetic defects are avoided. Technicians are expected to properly document inspection results as well.
12) Instituting small process changes to control processes such that customer specifications are met and production is completed in a timely manner.
13) Alerting management/engineering when processes are producing excess scrap and making sound decisions with regard to processes when management is not available (off shifts).
14) Alerting management of any maintenance issues, and/or safety issues that need addressed.
15) Identifying finished goods, scrap, and work in progress parts properly throughout the process.
16) Identifying and dispositioning scrap/regrind properly.
17) Adhering to the posted production schedule.
Advanced Skills Include:
1) Operating and programming robots.
2) Operating and utilizing RJG or other process control equipment.
3) Using decoupled molding techniques to rebuild conventionally molded processes.

Pay: $22.62 - $35.00 per hour
