Summary

The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service on Company vehicles and equipment. The position requires you to operate a variety of hand/power tools and working with pickup trucks, trailers, small and large pavement preservation equipment, diesel trucks and trailers, and other Company equipment. This position may work approximately 50% of the time in the shop, and the other 50% of the time on job sites with a fully-equipped maintenance truck. Overtime and frequent out-of-town work (up to 5 days) required.

Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of operations equipment during operations and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of vehicles and equipment.

• Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs vehicles and equipment.

• Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

• Prepares and sets up equipment daily use by asphalt crew members.

• Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.

• Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

• Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent;

• 2-3 years of previous experience performing vehicle and equipment maintenance;

• Must be hard-working, dependable, and able to meet the physical demand;

• Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement is a bonus

Physical Demands

The position lifts heavy objects (more than 100 pounds); walks and stands for long periods of time; bends, twists, kneels, sits, climbs, stoops, crouches or crawls; uses hands to finger, handle or feed; pulls, pushes, and carries heavy objects (more than 100 pounds); reaches with hands and arms; operates a motor vehicle; performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Days and hours may vary depending on maintenance needed on equipment. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.

Salary : $24 - $26
