Overview
Hoke Contracting NC, Inc., is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager with proven
experience in land development and underground utility construction. The ideal candidate
will manage projects from conception through completion, ensuring quality, safety, and
efficiency while meeting schedule and budget objectives. This role requires strong
technical knowledge of civil infrastructure, excellent communication skills, and the ability
to coordinate multiple teams and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage land development and underground utility projects, including
- water, sewer, storm drainage, and site infrastructure.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, subcontractors, inspectors, and utility
- companies.
- Oversee daily project operations to ensure work is completed safely and according
- to plans and specifications.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, municipalities, regulatory
- agencies, and internal teams.
- Facilitate project meetings, provide progress updates, and maintain clear
- communication channels.
- Manage project documentation, submittals, RFIs, permits, and change orders.
- Ensure all work follows local codes, regulatory requirements, environmental
- standards, and company safety policies.
- Conduct site inspections and quality checks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify and mitigate project risks proactively.
- Track budgets, labor, materials, and equipment to ensure cost control.
- Review contracts, negotiate subcontractor agreements, and manage vendor
- relationships.
- Approve invoices, monitor expenditures, and ensure financial accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- (preferred, not required).
- 3 years of project management experience in land development, underground
- utilities, or civil construction.
- Strong understanding of site development, grading, stormwater, water/wastewater
- systems, and municipal standards.
- Proficiency with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project,
- Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Estimation experience (preferred)
