Position OverviewA High School Science Teacher at Hogan Preparatory Academy is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering engaging science instruction to students in grades 9–12. This role supports the school’s mission to provide a rigorous, student-centered education and foster both academic and personal growth. The teacher will create a classroom environment that encourages scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on exploration of scientific concepts.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction & Curriculum Delivery: Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans in science disciplines that meet diverse student needs.
- Engagement & Classroom Environment: Use a variety of instructional strategies, including hands-on labs, technology integration, and real-world applications, to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Assessment & Feedback: Design, administer, and grade assessments to measure student understanding and guide instruction; provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families.
- Student Support: Differentiate instruction to support students with varying learning styles and abilities; promote scientific literacy and critical thinking.
- Collaboration & Professional Growth: Work collaboratively with colleagues to analyze student data, refine instructional practices, and participate in professional development opportunities.
- School Community Involvement: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, participate in school events, and uphold school policies to support a safe, respectful school culture.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education
- Certification: Valid Missouri teaching certificate
- Skills & Attributes: Strong content knowledge, effective classroom management, ability to build relationships with students and families, and commitment to equity and high expectations for all learners.
- Full-time teaching position during the academic year with typical school hours from 7:00am - 3:00pm and participation in school functions outside regular instructional time as required i.e. Conferences, Open House, Curriculum Night, etc.
