Hoffman Homes is a community of employees gathered on one campus to help children understand and manage their mental health diagnosis.
Hoffman Academy represents the education department of Hoffman Homes. The General Education Elective Teacher delivers standards-based instruction to the students of Hoffman Homes. This position is an active member of the student’s treatment team. Collaboration with direct-care staff, therapists and other stakeholders allow the team to assist the student in defining and achieving successful outcomes. Beyond educating this unique population of students, the General Education Elective Teacher coaches the students toward a safe and productive lifestyle.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Develops and administers curriculum related to concentration areas such as Art, Music, Computer, Spanish, etc. All certification areas will be considered.
- Manages a classroom of students who may be at various skill levels.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials
- Teaches knowledge and skills in designated subject area
- Keeps record of performance for each student.
- Works as part of team assigned to each student that may involve the therapist and direct care staff of any students residing at Hoffman Homes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- PA State Teacher Certification or the Ability to achieve certification in the area of fine arts (e.g. Art, Music, Spanish, etc.). All certifications will be considered.
- All necessary clearances will be processed.
