Our technicians work directly with major manufacturers and OEMs throughout North America. UV technology may be a specialized field, but prior UV experience is not required — we're looking for someone with a strong industrial electrical and mechanical foundation who can be trained on Hoenle technology.

The Position

Hoenle Americas is seeking a hands-on, technically capable Field Service Technician to join our North American service team. This is not a desk-based role: you'll travel directly to customer facilities to install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial UV, UV-LED, and IR curing and disinfection systems.

A typical service call may involve electrical troubleshooting, replacing components, taking measurements, analyzing cooling or airflow issues, working alongside customer maintenance staff, communicating with engineers in Germany, or commissioning a new system. The ideal candidate enjoys figuring out why something isn't working, is comfortable working independently, and troubleshoots methodically rather than simply swapping parts.

What You Will Do

• Installation & Commissioning: Install, inspect, start up, and commission systems at customer facilities.
• Electrical & Mechanical Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical, control-system, mechanical, pneumatic, cooling, and airflow problems using schematics, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
• Field Service & Repair: Identify failed components, determine root causes, and return equipment to operation.
• Preventative Maintenance & Optimization: Inspect systems, replace wear components, verify parameters, and recommend improvements to reliability and performance.
• Customer Support & Training: Work with and train customer electricians, maintenance staff, engineers, and plant management.
• Remote Support: Assist via phone, email, and video when appropriate.
• OEM & Engineering Coordination: Work with Hoenle engineers, OEM partners, and German headquarters on complex issues.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed service reports (work performed, measurements, findings, parts used, recommendations).
• Parts & Tools: Maintain company-provided tools and test equipment.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• ~3 years hands-on experience in industrial electrical, electromechanical maintenance, field service, industrial machinery, automation, manufacturing equipment, or a similar technical environment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills; ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with multimeters and diagnostic equipment; strong mechanical aptitude.
• Systematic, root-cause troubleshooting approach; ability to work independently and make sound decisions on-site.
• Strong written/verbal communication and professional customer-facing demeanor.
• Valid driver's license; ability and willingness to travel extensively (including overnight) throughout North America; ability to obtain a passport for occasional international travel.

Preferred (not required):

Experience with industrial field service, OEM machinery, printing/converting or packaging equipment, PLC-controlled systems, VFDs, industrial controls/sensors, three-phase or high-voltage electrical systems, industrial cooling/HVAC, pneumatics, UV/UV-LED curing, IR heating, or UV disinfection systems. PLC/control architecture experience is a plus (programming not required). Spanish-language proficiency is a significant advantage given our US/Mexico customer base. No college degree required — relevant military, trade-school, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience is welcome.

Travel & Work Environment

This role requires significant, variable travel across the US, Canada, and Mexico (occasionally beyond), including overnight stays. Some weeks involve little travel; installations or emergency calls may require several consecutive days on-site. Candidates should be comfortable traveling independently, driving rental vehicles, working in active industrial environments, standing/walking for extended periods, using ladders and hand/power tools, and occasionally working extended or off-hours when needed to restore customer production.
