POSITION SUMMARY:
HODGDON YACHTS is searching for an on-site, entry level Designer at our Tenders Division in Damariscotta, ME who will assist with the design of custom Tenders for the super yacht industry. Successful candidates will have working knowledge of mechanical design and drafting. Familiarity with naval architecture, boatbuilding methods and composite constructions are a plus. They will assist senior members of the engineering team with preparation of drawings and documentation for fabrication and construction, as well as liaise with the production manager and other members of the production team to bring designs to completion. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
Work directly with all individuals in the Design and Engineering Department as well as all other departments to support efficient production
Communicate with and support production department design needs based on the overall production schedule
Navigate, manipulate, or create 3D models and the associated drawings
Learn the basics of composite construction to assist with the design of components and tooling
Prepare models for 3D printing
Review specifications of equipment and designs to aid with regulatory compliance and safety considerations
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Familiarity with boat systems, boat construction, and naval architecture
Experience with 3D modeling, engineering drawing standards, and Microsoft Office
B.A. / B.S. or equivalent work experience
Solid Edge modeling a plus but not required
Must be able to conform to the schedule
Must follow safety rules and wear personal protective equipment as required.
