Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Operates computed radiographic equipment, picture archiving communication system, prepares room, equipment, supplies, and contrast media. Provides patient services using imaging modalities. Must demonstrate knowledge to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs (infant to geriatric).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree of Applied Science (AAS) required.
  • Radiologic Technologists and Technicians license in the State of Ohio.
  • Registered with the ARRT registry.
  • Two years post graduate Radiologic experience required in a hospital setting preferred.
  • CPR approved by the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients and staff.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Computer experience desirable.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Scheduled every other weekend.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Always verifies correct patient by using two patient's identifiers by always asking the patients their name, date of birth, and compare it with the patient's requisition prior to transporting to Radiology or performing any radiologic procedure.
  • Assesses patient's condition: assures patient safety through proper use of restraints/support devices under staff guidance.
  • Reviews all radiographs for technical accuracy.
  • Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patient.
  • Cleans and disinfects Radiographic/Fluoroscopic Room and equipment, portable equipment, portable Fluoroscopy, CT, and Ultrasound.
  • Prepares Barium solutions and contrast media for procedures.
  • Under the supervision of the Radiologist or ER physician, performs venipuncture and injection of iodinated contrast media, if the competency training permits.
  • Follows prescribed techniques (adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time, arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient, adjusts lead shielding, and selects proper film size.
  • Develops film in accordance with radiographic processing techniques.
  • Demonstrates the ability to anticipate and respond to customer needs and use diplomacy and tact in daily interactions.
  • This position will need to recognize need and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated: i.e., understand child growth and development, normal pattern of adolescent behavior, and look for signs of normal aging.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

Working Conditions and Physical Environment

  • Works in a patient care setting where there is potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials; and electrical, fire, chemical, physical contact and equipment hazards.
  • Fast-paced setting with rapid patient turnover.
  • High patient traffic.
  • Close-quartered and shared work space.
  • Sufficient mobility to negotiate physical plant.
  • Strength and endurance sufficient enough to perform physically for long periods of time without sitting (four to eight hours). May include: walking; lifting 25 – 50lbs with or without assistance; bending; twisting; standing; sitting; reaching; stair-climbing and descending.
  • Physical dexterity and psychomotor skills to respond adequately and appropriately to routine and emergency patient care needs in an ambulatory setting.
  • Visual and auditory capabilities sufficient to read information and respond to patient care needs.
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment that includes prolonged sitting and use of keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
  • Cognitive ability to accurately observe, analyze, and interpret general and technical data both verbal and written to accurately communicate this information.
  • Must be able to use manual dexterity in relation to radiology requirements.
  • Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
