Office Manager, Natural Resources
Salary: $40,000.00-50,000.00/year
I. Position Purpose
The Office Manager provides administrative support to the Dean of Natural Resources and Public Safety, assists with coordinating departmental initiatives, maintains accreditation standards, supports recruiting and admissions events and processes for the School of Natural Resources and Public Safety. This position involves working with sensitive information which will require a very high level of professionalism and confidentiality including, but not limited to, student records (FERPA). Independent judgment and decision making is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a highly diversified workload.

II. Duties and Responsibilities
• Supports the Dean’s advocacy of the School and department by serving on campus-wide committees and projects.
• Assists, monitors, and/or oversees a variety of school initiatives, projects, meetings, and events.
• Works closely with the Dean, staff and faculty to help facilitate meetings, organize recruiting and admissions events, and help to support students (answering questions, assisting in registration/scheduling, and helping students drop/add classes)
• Manages daily operations in the Dean’s office including all appointments, phone calls, greeting visitors, helping with meetings, assisting faculty, staff, students, parents and the general public.
• Prepares contracts, permits, purchase orders, work orders, requisitions and places orders for the school supplies and equipment.
• Responsible for all Dean’s Office student employees including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, supervision, reviews and terminations.
• Responsible for inventory and supply ordering and distribution
• Responsible for supporting student employment on behalf of the School including collaboration with the Career amp; University Center as well as curation of active job postings for internships and post-graduation employment opportunities.
• Utilizes appropriate technology and software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs etc.) to develop reports, maintain records, draft and edit letters, memos, and agendas.
• Ensures technology and related equipment is fully functional for class delivery in all programs.
• Assigns and manages advisor lists, working in collaboration with school faculty.
• Coordinates and leads student recruitment efforts on behalf of the School of Natural Resources. This includes training staff and faculty on recruitment software and related processes.
• Assist faculty with student issues and serve as a secondary advisor for academic probation students with grade appeals.
• Contribute to overall operations of the School:
o Responsible for equipment and tools loaned to students for classwork
o Creating and maintaining inventory records
• Coordinate student recruitment efforts on behalf of the School:
o Responsible for weekly prospective NR student visits and appointment and tour assignments
o Responsible for implementing and coordinating virtual and live high school presentations for all programs
o Conduct weekly meetings with the admissions director to assure recruitment efforts align with the college’s goals
o Lead off campus recruitment visits at high schools and community events (Bob Evans Festival, Paul Bunyon trade show, Ohio State Fair, etc.)
• Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
III. Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree required (business/office management, natural resources, or related field).
• Experience in a higher education field is preferred.
• Attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through in order to achieve goals.
• Must anticipate needs and proactively address them, learn quickly, and reliably complete work in a timely manner.
• Ability to continuously prioritize work, set and achieve goals, and meet deadlines.
• Strong computer skills - MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs and a willingness to learn new computer skills (as needed).
• Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and public relation skills.
• Maintain a neat, well-organized workspace, which projects a high level of professionalism for interactions with all students and visitors.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization and problem solving skills, along with the ability to take initiative and make decisions.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Demonstrated capacity to perform complex administrative duties.
