Kitchen Assistant/Part Time

Position Summary:
The 740 Rescue Kitchen is seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to
support our mission of turning rescued and donated food into fresh, nutritious meals for
the community. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a busy kitchen environment, able
to follow instructions, and committed to cleanliness, food safety, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
o Maintain cleanliness of prep areas, workstations, and common kitchen
spaces
o Ensure thorough cleaning of kitchen at end of each shift
storage areas
o Label, organize, and rotate stock appropriately

Key Responsibilities:
- Prep Work: Wash, chop, and prepare fresh produce and ingredients
- Meal Prep: Assist in preparing meals using surplus and donated food under
- Sanitation & Cleaning:
o Maintain cleanliness of prep areas, workstations, and common kitchen
spaces
o Ensure thorough cleaning of kitchen at end of each shift
- Food Handling & Storage:
storage areas
o Label, organize, and rotate stock appropriately
- Packaging: Portion and package meals for delivery and distribution
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with health
- Support with occasional weekend shifts or events as needed
- Prior experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen strongly preferred
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and safety
- Physical ability to stand, lift (30 lbs), bend, and squat throughout shift
- Team-oriented attitude with a passion for helping others
- ServSafe certification earned after 8 weeks
