POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Car Wash Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and calibrates chemical dispensing equipment at customer sites. This role ensures proper system function, accurate chemical usage, safe delivery, and compliance with all safety and environmental standards.

Must be able to pass pre-employment physical & drug test.

Key Responsibilities

Car Wash Chemical Installation & Setup

  • Install car wash chemical systems and adjust settings based on titration and dilution ratios.
  • Calibrate chemical delivery systems to meet manufacturer specifications and customer needs.
  • Test all chemical and water components for proper function and make necessary adjustments.
  • Remove existing chemicals from customer sites during new equipment installations.
  • Deliver car wash chemicals safely and on schedule using a company vehicle.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on car wash equipment, including replacing nozzles, tubing, pumps, injectors, and valves.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, air, water, or chemical delivery issues on-site.
  • Maintain accurate service logs and report major repairs to the supervisor.
  • Work efficiently and independently to complete service calls and meet deadlines.

Chemical Handling & System Calibration

  • Safely load, handle, and transfer chemical products in accordance with SDS and company safety policies.
  • Verify chemical delivery rates are within specification to ensure cleaning performance and minimize waste.
  • Identify and correct leaks, blockages, and improper dilution ratios.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures when working with pressurized systems and chemicals.
  • Wear appropriate PPE and ensure customers are trained on safe operation.
  • Ensure installations comply with local environmental and wastewater guidelines.
  • Perform regular vehicle inspections to ensure safe and legal operation.
  • Follow all traffic laws, company driving policies, and transportation safety procedures.

Customer Support & Training

  • Train customers on proper system use, safety precautions, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with customers regarding service issues, chemical orders, or equipment needs.
  • Provide feedback to sales or service teams on customer concerns and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with car wash managers and site staff during service visits.

Documentation & Technical Literacy

  • Complete accurate service reports, installation records, and chemical usage logs.
  • Use mobile tools or field service software to track work orders, parts, and deliveries.
  • Coordinate chemical deliveries and service visit scheduling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and digital tools for reporting and communication.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, and pressure systems.
  • Proper handling and storage of chemical products; familiarity with SDS and GHS labeling.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and PPE use.
  • Strong communication skills; able to explain technical concepts clearly to customers.
  • Ability to complete service reports and calibration logs accurately.
  • Willingness to travel locally or regionally for service calls and installations.
  • HAZMAT certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience installing or servicing car wash or similar chemical/equipment systems.
  • Familiarity with proportioning systems, metering pumps, or water treatment equipment.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Experience with field service or mobile work order software.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Comfortable working in and around vehicles, wash bays, and chemical environments.
  • Regional day travel required; occasional overnight stays (up to 3 nights per month) and limited weekend service. Participates in an on-call rotation approximately once per month.
  • Able to handle 55-gallon drums (up to 600 lbs) with proper equipment.
  • Capable of lifting 50–100 lbs and performing physical tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather; work environments may range from moderate to loud noise levels.
