Equipment Operator

The Equipment Operator is responsible to safely operate one or several types of power construction equipment, such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, place or move materials and pour concrete.

Responsibilities:
Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.

Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.

Operate tractors or bulldozers to perform such tasks as clearing land, mixing sludge, trimming backfills, or other related tasks.

Avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects; ensure that health and safety standards are met at all times.

Monitor condition of equipment and notify supervisor when repair and maintenance is required.

Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

2-5 years of experience operating commercial or industrial construction equipment

Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in industrial or commercial construction.

Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required

Environment: Work is performed primarily in an outdoor setting with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, and travel from site to site.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and field environment; to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs without assistance and greater than 50lbs with assistance; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
