Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director, the Ultrasound Technologist II demonstrates competency and proficiency in all skills required to perform level I routine and level II advanced ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols. All technologists utilize independent judgment and required knowledge to obtain high quality diagnostic ultrasound images. The technologist competently evaluates the technical quality of the images obtained and prior to submitting to interpreting radiologist. They educate the patient/family about the procedure and report all changes in patient’s status, including initiating emergency response if required. They accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems. Ultrasound Technologist II acts as a resource to less experience technologists in the department. Hospital based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital adjacent imaging center locations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Associates degree or higher. Graduate of an ARDMS approved ultrasound program. Minimum of three years of experience as an ultrasound technologist, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Hospital/OP Imaging locations only: Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met. Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs approved program (exception for programs completed prior to 1994).
- BLS
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered in one or more specialties
