Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all respiratory care modalities in the treatment of pulmonary disease and disorders, adhering to all department and hospital required license(s), certifications, regulatory agency requirements.
- Performs bedside diagnostic tests and assessments to evaluate the extent of pulmonary dysfunction.
- Manages and monitors mechanical ventilation and artificial airways.
- Participates in cardiac arrest/respiratory arrest code situations and assists with intubation.
- Maintains a working knowledge of department standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance.
- This includes the knowledge of specialized equipment and related computer systems.
- Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
- Supports the department mission.
- Participates in the continuous quality improvement process.
- Position may require travel between various Hoag Hospital (Hoag) locations and its affiliates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs all respiratory care modalities in the treatment of pulmonary disease and disorders.

- Participates in the continuous quality improvement process.
- Position requires travel to patient homes for respiratory therapy visits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Respiratory Care program required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care, Health Services Management, or related studies preferred.
- Previous experience as an RCP practicing in the acute care patient setting preferred.
- Current license to practice respiratory care issued by the Respiratory Care Board of California (RCP)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential verified and granted by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), must remain current for the entire term of employment

- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification granted by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) granted by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Department certification in arterial puncture, arterial blood gas analysis, and performance of ECGs
- Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS), Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Testing (CPFT or RPFT)
- STABLE Certification
