Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Manager of Rehab Therapy oversees patient care, fiscal performance and employees including but not limited to physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and recreation therapy. Develops programs, policies, and procedures to ensure patient’s rehabilitation care needs are met. Responsible for patient safety in the department. Maintains department budget. Responsible for performance management of staff, orientation and ongoing staff education, and providing direction and support. Ensures staff are following policy, procedures, and scope of practice. Ensures department is maintained in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and the goals of Hoag. Meets and reviews patient satisfaction data. May require meeting and rounding outside normal business hours including nights and/or weekends. May provide clinical care on an as needed basis. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
10 years’ experience as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist in an acute healthcare setting required. Completes mandatory stroke specific education requirements for certification. Experience with a range of diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary. 5 years of previous management experience is required.
Fudge Family Acute Rehabilitation- Competent in Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP)
License Required
One of the following is required:
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist with the Physical Therapy Board of California, OR
- Occupational Therapist with the California Board of Occupational Therapy, OR Speech-Language Pathologist with the Speech-Language Pathology Board of California.
Certifications Required
Current BLS certification required. Membership in professional organization specific to licensure required.
Certifications Preferred
Board certified neurologic clinical specialist
