Assistant Community Manager (HOA) – Career Development Role
San Marcos, CA
$18–$21 per hour (DOE)
Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

We are seeking an Assistant Community Manager to support HOA operations and develop the skills necessary to advance within community association management. This role is intended as a training and development position for individuals interested in a long-term career in HOA management.
Compensation & Work Schedule
- Hourly pay range: $18–$21 per hour, based on experience, skills, and qualifications
- Non-exempt hourly position; overtime paid in accordance with California law
- Fridays and weekends off
- Occasional evening availability required for scheduled board meetings

Key Responsibilities
- Answer phones and respond to emails
- Format documents and correspondence
- Prepare, print, and assemble board meeting packets
- Provide administrative support to Community Managers
- Learn and utilize HOA management software
- Assist with administrative tasks, budgets, and community operations
- Participate in training related to HOA management and administration
Qualifications
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
- Valid driver’s license required & Clean Background Check
- Prior HOA or property management experience is a plus but not required
Career Development & Advancement
- This position is a developmental role designed to provide training and experience in HOA community management
- Employees typically remain in this role for approximately one year; timelines may vary based on experience, performance, and business needs
- Advancement to a Community Manager position is not guaranteed and is contingent upon performance, demonstrated competency, position availability, and management approval
- Employees may become eligible to enroll in CMCA coursework and certification testing once internal training requirements are met
- Upon successful certification and assignment of a community portfolio, compensation may transition to a salaried structure, currently estimated to range between $48,000–$55,000 annually, depending on experience, portfolio size, and company discretion
- Compensation increases, bonuses, or salary adjustments are not guaranteed and may vary based on performance, responsibilities, market conditions, and company policy
Long-Term Earning Potential
- With additional experience (generally 3–5 years in community management), compensation may increase as responsibilities and portfolio size expand
- Highly experienced and top-performing Community Managers may earn higher compensation, which can reach up to approximately $80,000 annually, subject to certification level, performance, and company needs.
