Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Surveyor and survey crew in performing field surveys for roadways, bridges, utilities, and related infrastructure projects.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including GPS units, total stations, data collectors, and levels.
- Hold and position survey rods, prisms, and other equipment to obtain accurate measurements.
- Drive survey vehicles to and from job sites and ensure proper care of company equipment.
- Clear brush and debris as needed to establish line-of-sight for survey measurements.
- Set stakes, hubs, and markers to designate grades, alignments, and reference points.
- Record field notes and support documentation efforts as directed by the Crew Chief or Surveyor.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with company and regulatory safety standards at all times.
- Work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in surveying or construction preferred.
- Basic knowledge of surveying principles and field procedures is a plus.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate survey equipment and technology.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a physically demanding outdoor environment.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Occasional travel required.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
