Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Efficient and timely cleaning & sanitizing of production equipment and areas.

· Assures Plant Sanitation processes are followed and effective. Oversees employees and inspects completed work for conformance to standards.

· Responsible for maintaining master cleaning schedule.

· Manages sanitation (3rd shift) costs to meet or exceed budgetary guidelines.

· Responsible for ordering/maintaining inventory of all cleaning chemicals and maintaining all cleaning equipment.

· If applicable, may serve as the liaison between a 3rd party pest control representative and oversees the pest control program in the facility.

· Responsible for the requisition and/or purchase of cleaning supplies and equipment.

· Assigns tasks to workers including setting up their crews in the most effective and efficient way, meeting release for pre-op deadlines, as well as, moving and setting up equipment for startup.

· Responsible for developing the proper attitudes towards safety and health in themselves and in those they supervise, and for promoting that all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved including themselves. Ensures safety procedures are followed.

· Develop and implement continuous Improvement initiatives and staying abreast of sanitation policies, products and procedures.

· The incumbent will lead special cleaning projects as assigned.

Communication:

· Communicate with Scheduling, Quality Assurance, Dry Storage, and Warehouse ensuring the plant floor is released timely to the Quality Assurance Department to perform pre-op testing to position them to release the line to operations timely.

· Plans and schedules manpower, cleaning schedules, releases the entire production floor timely and to effectively and efficiently utilize departmental policies and procedures fairly and equitably to maintain standards established for safety, quality and overall company

personnel satisfaction

Leadership and Direction:

· Assigns and oversees the sanitation cleaning schedule to include planned and unplanned work by assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

· Leads a group of approximately 40 hourly associates and directs their workloads daily in order to achieve results and KPI’s

· Leads the entire sanitation operation on the 3rd shift and may serve as the primary contact in the absence of other leadership overseeing other areas of the plant.

Problem Solving:

· Develops and recommends improvements of facilities, equipment, cleaning procedures, pest control issues, chemical concerns or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency when issues and problems arise.

· Develops and recommends solutions to problems that may arise during the course of the night when preparing for set up, pre-op, other issues that may arise.

Analysis:

· Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the sanitation process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.

· Provides information by compiling, initiating, sorting and analyzing sanitation, pest control and chemical performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.

Qualifications:

· B.S. Degree in Technical or Food Science Degree Preferred or related experience and/or training.

· 3-5 years minimum leadership experience in sanitation and/or quality field.

· Previous experience overseeing chemical processes and/or demonstrated knowledge.

 

Working conditions:

Office Environment: The noise level in the office work environment is moderately quiet.

Plant Environment: The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors. Flexibility of work hours. Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time if needed.

Physical requirements/Allergens

Lifting, pushing, and pulling of approximately 70 pounds and prolonged standing and walking.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, listen, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to use hands to handle, operate, and feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to off-site meetings. The employee must have visual acuity sufficient to operate a motor vehicle and digital camera, as well as other office and position equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to hear and speak clearly in order to communicate with clients, coworkers, employees and vendors.
