What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician Associate position at Hive Co?
Hive Co has a contract opportunity with our client in South Bend, Indiana for a Distribution Design Technician to support grid modernization and transmission-related projects. In this role, you’ll use DDS software to analyze distribution utility poles for the addition of new equipment or line rebuilds. You’ll collaborate closely with design teams, project managers, and line coordinators to ensure all designs meet quality standards and project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize DDS software to perform analysis and design work for distribution utility poles and related infrastructure.
- Support design efforts for grid modernization and transmission projects.
- Track project due dates and coordinate with design teams, project managers, and line coordinators.
- Apply technical knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and materials to produce accurate, high-quality designs.
- Assist with troubleshooting, field validation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain accurate design records, reports, and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Technology (preferred)
- OR High school diploma/equivalent plus 2 years of related experience in the utility industry
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with engineering standards, construction codes, and materials used in electric distribution systems
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency with technical design tools/software
- Other Requirements:
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for field work
- Physical demand level: Sedentary
