Project Manager – Transmission Projects (Onsite, Columbus, OH Area)
Overview
We have a contract opportunity with our client for a Project Manager to support competitive transmission projects, contributing to both bid development and project execution across regional initiatives. This role is ideal for candidates with construction, engineering, or utility project experience who are looking to grow into managing complex projects within a structured, matrixed environment.
This position requires strong coordination, communication, and project execution skills across the full project lifecycle.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Onsite: 5 days/week (Columbus or New Albany, OH area)
- Schedule:Option 1: 5 days (8 hours/day)
- Option 2: 4 days (9 hours) 4 hours Friday
- Travel: Up to 10% (regional travel; occasional overnight)
- Minimal overtime as needed
- Local candidates only (no relocation consideration)
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Coordination
- Support or lead planning, execution, and delivery of transmission projects
- Coordinate project activities across cross-functional teams
- Step in for Lead PM when needed and progressively take on ownership
Project Planning & Controls
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Assist with project controls, reporting, and performance tracking
- Support execution of intermediate to complex projects
Stakeholder Communication
- Provide clear and accurate project updates
- Lead meetings and contribute to project presentations
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders
Procurement & Contracts
- Support RFP development, vendor selection, and contract management
- Assist with procurement planning and contractor oversight
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and project requirements
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to safety processes
- Identify opportunities to improve project execution, cost, and efficiency
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or related field 3 years experience
- OR
- Associate degree 5 years relevant experience
Relevant Experience Includes
- Project management or project coordination
- Construction, engineering, or utility-related environments
- Project controls, estimating, scheduling, or contract management
- Safety, scope development, and quality control
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in utilities or transmission projects strongly preferred
- Joint venture project experience is a plus
- Understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction processes
- Familiarity with project lifecycle methodologies and PM tools
