Job Description:

Hitachi Railis looking for an enthusiastic self-motivatedRolling Stock and Depot Equipment Managerwho thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is basedPearl City, Hawaii.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, supervise,overseeandallocateresources to all aspects of maintenance activities within the maintenance sections ofrolling stockanddepot equipment;

  • Providesupport and guidance onrolling stockanddepot equipment within the Engineering & Maintenance Department and to the O&M organization at-large;

  • Assist theEngineering& AssetManager and staffin updating themaintenance procedures and workinstructionto enhance safety,reliabilityand efficiency;

  • Manage and completeassigned operational, equipment failure,safetyand other reports asrequired.

  • Assist theEngineering &AssetManagerin providing strategic direction, planning, and managingassessing asset condition, performance and obsolescence ofpassenger vehicles and Depot equipment;

  • Perform and carry out duties as instructed/directed bytheHead ofMaintenance.

  • Manage and performtroubleshooting, identification and resolution ofSystem and subsystem to support field technicians in the diagnosis and correction of faults.

  • Manage the completion of assigned operational, equipment failure,safetyand other reports asrequired.

  • Manage and schedule theroutine, preventivemaintenanceand unscheduledcorrectivemaintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, and proper maintenance on assigned equipmentin accordance with, schematics, operations manuals, and manufacturers maintenance instructions.

  • Managelog files to troubleshoot any problem or to provide predictive maintenance for the systems.

  • Ensure the effective implementation of first-line responsemaintenance safetystandards.

  • Direct and where necessary supervise staff inhandlingcomplex maintenance activities;

  • Plan, manage andallocateresources toensure PV availability andeffectiveand efficient use of thedepotequipment and facilities;

  • Ensurethatall staff withinRolling Stock and Depotequipment section are fully competent to perform their assigned tasks;

  • Ensure that the safety standards within the sections of rolling stock and first line response maintenanceareestablishedand in compliance with the company safety policy and procedures;

  • Ensure that the safety procedures are fullyobservedand implemented during all maintenance activitieson rolling stock, depot equipment and the warehousebyemployees andsub-contractorsalike;

  • Meet the Key PerformanceIndicatorsaccording to the targets agreed with the Maintenance & EngineeringManager;

  • The role requires flexibility and efficiency which require shift rotation,working onweekends andholidayswhich istypical of major infrastructure projects, and operationalrailtransit systems.

  • Be available to attend on a24-hour on-callbasisincidents and emergencywithin its section.

Operational Delivery:

  • Ensure a culture of customer service excellence and continuous improvement is delivered across the organization;

  • Submit any scheduled reports or documentation requiredthe Engineering and MaintenanceManageras directed;

  • Ensure that whatever management systems and tools are mandated for yoursectionare used responsibly and accurately,are calibrated correctly;

  • Be aware and adhere to all departmental procedures and instructions.

  • Be aware and adhere to all Human Resources procedures and instructions.

  • Be aware and adhere to the Quality Policy and all related procedures and instructions relating to your department.

Quality and Performance:

  • Be aware and adhere to requirements affecting your role in relation to customer satisfaction and service delivery;

  • Ensure that quality is embedded into the delivery of all work in line with established policies, systems, plans,proceduresand work instructions.

Financial and Commercial:

  • Be aware andensure that all staff within the Rolling Stock and Depot sectionadhere to timekeeping and rostering procedures;

  • Ensure that all goods and services received are fully checked and certified before authorizing payments;

  • Ensurethat timesheets and overtime payments areaccurate,recordedand verified.

Knowledge:

  • Professionally qualified, with membership of a recognized engineering institution preferred

  • Expertknowledge in rolling stock & depotequipmentmaintenance planning, preparing maintenancebudgeting, maintenance plans and procedures, technical specifications, safety and quality plans and procedures;

  • Thoroughunderstanding of all aspects of safety issues related to railway operations and maintenance.

Skills:

  • Must be a skilled manager in communicating,motivatingand developing staff;

  • Must bea strongcommunicator with external parties;

  • Highly motivated and flexibility to work in a time-sensitive environment to respond quickly and effectively to unanticipated high workloads,eventsand emergencies;

  • Ability to think laterally, analyze and assess a range of information;

  • Ability to multi-task and analyze situations promptly and without biasso as todeterminethe proper course of action or alternatives without jeopardizing human safety,qualityand the committed performance targets.

  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of safety issues related to railway operations and maintenance

  • Must hold a valid US driving licensewith acleandriving record

Experience:

  • Minimum8years of relevant working experience inrolling stock anddepotequipment maintenance with expert knowledge of car body, train propulsion system, brakes, batteries, auxiliary power supply and electrical equipment, car doors and doors control,ventilationand air-conditioning;

  • At least5years of supervisory and management experience;

  • Experience in maintenance planning, preparing maintenance budget, maintenance plans and procedures, technical specifications,safetyand quality plan asrequired.

Education/Skills:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent technical experience

Languages:

English-Proficient

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $165,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate's experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
