- Inspect, diagnose, rebuild, replace, or repair vehicle parts such as engines, brakes, transmission lines, electrical assemblies, and accessories. Tighten bolts and screws and reassemble equipment and vehicle's repaired, ensuring they are safe and in good working condition.
- Drive Vehicle to test brakes or align wheels.
- Perform tune-ups, oil changes, and other routine preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, replacing common parts and making adjustments.
- Lookup and understand the manufacturer's specifications, technical bulletins, service or repair manuals.
- Follow vehicle repair procedures.
- Ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations.
- Ability to apply knowledge in multiple areas of vehicle repair.
- Ability to drive in a safe, competent manner a vehicle that is 27 feet to 42 feet in length on busy public streets and on company property.
- Ability to determine the type of tool and equipment needed to do a job.
- Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of an automotive training program
- Vocational or technical school preferred
- ASE Certifications preferred: Auto Brakes and Preventative Maintenance Inspection
- Valid GA or SC Class C or higher CDL with passenger endorsement (Will train to acquire a CDL. Must obtain a CDL in the first month of employment)
- Acceptable driving record for the past three years.
- Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing.
- Valid DOT physical required.
- Must supply own hand tools and toolboxes. Tools must meet or exceed minimum tool list.
