As a Platform Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.
General Responsibilities:
- Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
- Continuously improve platform engineering practices and proactively identify risks and execute strategies that eliminate or mitigate those risks
- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of your platform solutions
- Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity
- Directly and indirectly lead a teams of engineers and people leaders to build strategy for each platform and drive being Well Managed, the core goal at Capital One
- Participate in talent and succession planning, encourage innovation, implement cutting-edge technologies, elevate inclusion, offer out of the box thinking, celebrate teamwork, self-organization and diversity
- Utilize scripting languages like Python, SQL, Ruby and groovy, Container Orchestration services including Docker and ECS, CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services
- Attack complex business opportunities by working with LOB stakeholders, leadership and your teams
- Collaborate on bigger initiatives to represent their impacts on your platforms and guide decision makers
- Drive decommissioning of legacy systems
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
- At least 8 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)
- At least 6 years of experience with AWS
- At least 4 years of people management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior business and product stakeholders (Director ) on strategy and roadmaps
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering
- At least 1 year of experience in the financial or tech industry
- At least 5 years of experience managing relationships with Business or Product stakeholders, architects and external partners
- At least 4 years of experience leading a team within an agile environment
- At least 4 years of experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
- At least 4 years of experience with MS SharePoint & MS Power Platform, Confluence or DocuSign
- At least 4 years of experience with platform selection and implementation at the enterprise level
